Won his first card to the European Senior Tour in 2007 at the age of 67, after securing 12th place following a play-off at Pestana Golf Resort. Highest finish of the year came at the Midas English Seniors Open, where he finished 14th. By his own estimation, it was the third time he has returned to the sport he has played on and off all his life with a couple of breaks to study law, teach law and, most recently, run for office in the Texas State Legislature. Raised 70 per cent of his political money from his fellow professionals on the US Champions Tour, only to lose in the primary because, in his own words, he simply “wasn’t Conservative enough”. Winner of one title on the US Champions Tour where he holds the record as the oldest player to top the Driving Distance category when, at age 61, he averaged 286.2 yards per drive. Names Winston Churchill as one of his heroes because of the former British Prime Minister’s strength of character. “Never, never give up,” is Dill’s own motto.
