Father, Ugo, won the Italian, French and Dutch Opens and passed on his talent and knowledge to his son. Brother Guido also a professional. Turned pro at 22 and had six unsuccessful attempts to win card at Qualifying School, graduating from Challenge Tour in 1989 and 1991.
