Named after Mel Gibson's character in the Lethal Weapon movie franchise. Fulfilled a childhood dream when he played golf at Arizona State, spending five years competing for the Sun Devils from 2020-2024. Finished third at the 2021 NCAA Championship. Was the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023

Given the suggestion by a former coach to try DP World Tour Qualifying School in 2024, advancing through all three stages and earning playing rights for the 2025 Race to Dubai.

Won the ISPS HANDA Australian Open on just his second DP World Tour start. He started the week ranked 954th in the world, and went on to win by three strokes after a four under par final round of 68.
