Had already performed well on the Challenge Tour with a second place finish in the Tusker Kenya Open and by taking fourth place at the Vodafone Challenge. Also recorded his maiden professional victory at the Sunshine Tour’s Seekers Travel Pro-Am tournament. Was back at Qualifying School – Final Stage in 2009, where he came joint 16th to earn a European Tour card for the following season. Was an outstanding young footballer and still carries the nickname ‘Cobra’ from his football days. In qualifying for The 2008 European Tour International Schedule, he became the first black South African player to earn full playing privileges since Vincent Tshabalala played on Tour between 1976 and 1977.
