Began playing golf aged four, encouraged by his father, Pepi, who is his present coach and professional at Crans-sur-Sierre. His sister Esther is also a professional and played the Women’s European Tour in the late 1990’s. She now coaches at Crans-sur-Sierre, while Francisco is attached to the club. Gave up for three years due to a persistent wrist injury and a lack of motivation. On his return bounced back to win the 2005 Alps Tour Order of Merit. His interests are watching football, in particular, Barcelona and listening to music. Played a lot of amateur golf with Ignacio Garrido and José Manuel Lara and his role models are Seve Ballesteros and José Maria Olazábal. Created European Challenge Tour history by becoming the first amateur to win on the Challenge Tour, at the 1993 Memorial Olivier Barrras at Crans-sur-Sierre.
