David is one sportsman bred for quality. His father Freddie was World Speedway Champion in 1950 and 1953 while his ice skating mother Patricia won a gold medal at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. Never quite made a winning breakthrough on The European Tour but did come close on a number of occasions including the 1990 Atlantic Open where he lost out after a six-man play-off. Continues to play a major role within The European Tour as a highly respected Tournament Director as well as a connoisseur of fine wines.
