Hole 1
This year's course reverts back to the original opening hole at Renaissance, but with an additional challenge due to a new, raised Championship Tee. In addition to an added 31 yards of distance to the hole, the new tee also changes the angle of play and provides a much enhanced view of the landing area.
Hole 2
The club have re-constructed an old tee back which had not been used for several years, and will provide an added option to create a real challenge for this hole
Hole 3
This par 5 dog leg is reachable for most, but trees protect the right of the dog-leg.
Hole 4
The appears to be a fairly simple par 4 but the tight landing area and elevated green make this tougher than expected. The notoriously awkward tree to the left of the green has been removed this year.
Hole 5
A very driveable par 4 given the right conditions but the difficulties are all around the green where hole locations can make short approach shots very difficult.
Hole 6
A great little par 3 which is surrounded by treacherous bunkers which have been reconstructed and made even more difficult this year.
Hole 7
Last year's 16th hole, which was the second easiest hole in 2019. A relatively straightforward par 5, but avoiding the bunkers is key.
Hole 8
An uphill par 4 with a very tight landing area and then a semi-blind approach shot to an elevated green. One of the hardest holes in 2019.
Hole 9
A long tough par 3 with run-offs to the right and behind the green, not surprisingly, the 2nd hardest hole last year.
Hole 10
Last years opening hole. Reachable in two for most but the mounding in front of the right half of green makes a long approach shot very awkward. A number of trees have been removed down the right of the hole since last year.
Hole 11
A seriously undulating green makes this an extremely tricky par 4, made even harder when the tees are pushed back.
Hole 12
A beautiful par 3 that has a testing two-tiered infinity style green, with the right side higher than the left.
Hole 13
One of the most iconic holes on the golf course, last year's 4th is the original 10th hole of the course. A relatively short par 4 which boasts a spectacular setting on the East Lothian coastline.
Hole 14
A downhill par 3 which is made very awkward by the contouring to the left of the green. The old stone wall to the right of the green will definitely come into play.
Hole 15
The club’s championship tee was not used last year but has now been considerably elevated to provide a much improved view of the landing area. The hole will be 44 yds longer from this tee.
Hole 16
Last year's 7th hole was the easiest in 2019 but has been lengthened by 33 yards to provide more of a challenge. According to Richie Ramsay, the ideal line here is down the left-hand side, but it also brings in the danger of pot bunkers.
Hole 17
The green here is not very deep but is split into two tiers and is surrounded by a lot of mounding, and is protected by a front left bunker.
Hole 18
One of the great finishing holes that plays into the prevailing wind, and was the hardest on the course in 2019. The green side bunkers have been remodelled but do not make this testing hole any easier..
