The 2024 Road to Mallorca season begins with the SDC Open from February 2-5, the first of four co-sanctioned events with the Sunshine Tour in South Africa, and the first of a 29-tournament schedule.
A total of 156 players will tee it up in the Challenge Tour’s season opener in Limpopo, and they all have one goal in mind. Here’s how it works…
Each player that takes to the tee during the Road to Mallorca season will do so knowing that they have a chance of promotion to the DP World Tour. For that to happen, they’ll need to finish inside the top 20 of the Road to Mallorca Rankings come the end of the year.
Road to Mallorca Ranking points are on offer at every Challenge Tour event in 2024. Starting in South Africa, the Tour then heads to India and Abu Dhabi before it lands in Europe during the summer months.
Back-to-back tournaments in China then precede the season-ending Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A.
Additional Ranking points are on offer at select ‘elevated’ events. In 2024 these all come in the final month of the season – at the Hainan Open and Hangzhou Open in China, and the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final. These events provide players with a late opportunity to catapult themselves into the promotion places. There are also several events with elevated prize money, including the opening four events in South Africa and the Italian Challenge Open.
After 28 of the 29 events, the leading 45 players in the Rankings will take their place in the field at the season finale at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca.
A strong finish at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final could see any one of the 45 players climb into the top 20 and guarantee one of the life-changing DP World Tour cards on offer.
