    Dedicated his maiden European Tour victory, at the 2011 Open de España, to Seve Ballesteros who had died on the weekend of the tournament.

    Won two more titles, at the 2013 Avantha Masters and the 2014 Africa Open, and has been a consistent presence on the European Tour since 2008.

    Won the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit in 2014.

    Played cricket at provincial level as a fast bowler and as a teen had to decide between a career in cricket or golf.

    Has sport in his blood – his mother, father and uncle all competed in various sports at provincial level while his brother was once one of the country’s best tennis players.

    Was crowned the South African Amateur of the Year in 2011 during a glittering career in the non-paid ranks.
