    Represented Denmark on a number of occasions as an amateur, including appearances at the European Team Championships (Amateur, Boys’ and Youths’) and in the 1994 Eisenhower Trophy.

    Turned professional in 1995 and spent three seasons on the European Challenge Tour. His first professional victory at the Volvo Finish Open helped him finish 13th on the Order of Merit in 1997 to earn promotion to the DP World Tour.

    Finished 115th on the Order of Merit in his rookie season, barely keeping his card, but demonstrated incredible consistency over the following two decades, finishing outside the top 100 on just one occasion (103rd in 2014).

    Won his first DP World Tour title at the Diageo Championship at Gleneagles in 2003 and claimed a second victory at the final edition of the Volvo Masters in 2008 as he finished tenth on that season’s Order of Merit.

    Picked up his third win at the 2009 Open de Andalucia, reaching a career-high 31st on the Official World Golf Ranking shortly after. Ended a six-year wait for his fourth DP World Tour title at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation at Royal County Down in 2015.

    Has played in all four Major Championships, achieving top ten finishes in three – the PGA Championship in 2009 and at The Open and the Masters Tournament in 2016.

    Won the 2016 ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf for Denmark alongside Thorbjørn Olesen at Kingston Heath in Melbourne.

    In 2024, became the fourth player in DP World Tour history reach the milestone of 700 appearances, doing so at the European Open.
