Started playing golf at the age of 14 in 1998 with his professional Ralph Hagen. Within six years he had progressed to the Austrian National Team and played on the Alps Tour as an amateur in 2005. Two years later he finished second on the Alps Tour Final Order of Merit to earn a place on the Challenge Tour.
