Started the 2009 season in fine fettle with a tied eighth finish alongside Phil Mickelson at the HSBC Champions, and three months later came mightily close to capturing his maiden European Tour title at the Maybank Malaysian Open, only to lose out by a single stroke to American Anthony Kang.

Divided his time between The European and Japan Golf Tours in 2008, winning three times on the latter – including the Dunlop Phoenix – and finishing joint 15th on his maiden appearance at the US PGA Championship.

Has also captured six titles on the Asian Tour, including the 1996 Volvo China Open and the Volvo Masters of Asia on home soil in 2007, en route to finishing fifth on the Order of Merit that year.

Was a member of the winning Asian team at the 2003 and 2005 Dynasty Cups against Japan.

In 2001, made headlines at the Volvo Masters of Malaysia when he carded eight consecutive birdies, which was an Asian Tour record at the time.

In 1999, became the first player from Thailand to compete in the Open Championship.

Voted Asian Golfer of the Year in 1997.
