With just two events of the 2005 Challenge Tour season remaining, produced an outstanding performance in the dual ranking Abama Open de Canarias, finishing in a tie for second place, which secured him a cheque for €39,085 and ensured he would gain promotion to The European Tour via the Challenge Tour Rankings. Coached by Mark Immelman – the older brother of European Tour winner, Trevor – he took another second place at the 2005 Tusker Kenya Open.
