A wine connoisseur in his spare time, he was able to toast a notable achievement at the end of 2007 when, for the first time in five seasons, he kept his European Tour playing privileges by right, having missed out in each of the four years from 2003 to 2006. Subsequently lost his card again after finishing 144th in the 2008 Order of Merit, but promptly regained it by finishing 26th in the Qualifying School – Final Stage. Hit his first shots at the age of five when, walking round golf course with his parents, his father gave him a club and a ball to keep him amused and he was bitten by the bug. Was a scratch golfer at 18, and spent two and a half years in the Swedish national team before turning professional in 1994.
