Took up golf aged 11 and enjoyed success as an amateur in his home country. Planned to turn professional at age 18 but broke his right hand after falling off a banana boat.

Following complications with the surgery he stopped playing golf, and instead started studying economics and sports marketing at the Johan Cruyff Institute before taking a job at Nike's European headquarters.

Returned to golf in 2015 when, after turning professional, he topped the Order of Merit on the satellite Alps Tour. Enjoyed a successful rookie season on the Challenge Tour in 2016, and joined forces with fellow countryman Joost Luiten later that year at the World Cup of Golf.

Secured his first Challenge Tour title at the inaugural Euram Bank Open in Austria in 2018 but finished 33rd on the season-long rankings.

Earned promotion from the Challenge Tour for the first time in 2019, helped by his win at the Rolex Trophy. Lost his DP World Tour card after the 2023 season, but earned playing rights for the 2024 Race to Dubai after coming through Qualifying School.

Realised a childhood dream as he captured his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2024 Magical Kenya Open, holding his nerve on the final day to win by two strokes at Muthaiga Golf Club.
