His trip to the First Stage marked the first time he had ever been to Europe, and will now hope to emulate the success of his compatriots Brooks Koepka and Peter Uihlein in the 2015 campaign. Turned professional soon after winning the prestigious North East Amateur in his home country in 2009, a victory which moved him inside the top ten in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Earned conditional status on the Web.com Tour for 2011, but could not make much of an impression and in 2012 he suffered a wrist injury which ruled him out of action for almost two years. Played some mini-tour events in the USA and Asia upon his return to fitness, before deciding to give Europe a try. Grew up in a house based on a golf course in Wisconsin, learned the game from his father and uncle – both huge golf fans. Later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to take advantage of the fairer winter weather and work on his game all year round at Druid Hills Golf Club. Cites Sergio Garcia as his idol, having watched the Spaniard hit balls on the range during the 2004 US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in his native Wisconsin.
