From Stirling, Scotland, he won the Scottish Boys Stroke Play in 1995 and turned professional the following year.

After many years working as a club professional he progressed through all three stages of the 2007 Qualifying School to reach the European Tour for the first time.

Lost his card the following season graduating again, from the Challenge Tour this time, in 2011.

Lost out to Thomas Bjorn in a play-off for the 2013 Omega European Masters en route to a career-high finish of 59th in the Race to Dubai.
