Etched his name in the record books with victory on the Asian Tour’s SAIL Open in India in 2009, setting new scoring records for 36, 54 and 72 holes. His winning total of 32 under par 256, which saw him triumph by 11 shots, was a new world record as it was the lowest amongst the six major Tours in the world. Became only the third Thai golfer, after Thongchai Jaidee and Thaworn Wiratchant, to win on The European Tour with a wire-to-wire victory in the 2007 TCL Classic in China. Thanks to the exemption secured by that win, he can compete on Tour in 2009 after a disappointing 2008.Plays with a John Daly-like backswing and goes by the nickname of 'King Kong' due to his prodigious driving distances. Turned professional at the tender age of 15, initially playing on the mini circuits across the Asian region before progressing to the Asian Tour in 2005. Said he turned professional early on to try and make a living for himself. His father Chucheep was also a top golfer, playing for the Thai national team. Was introduced to the game by his father when he was four years old. He also learned to become a monk in 2007 when he spent two weeks in the monastery and says the meditation has helped him to relax on the golf course.
