After starting golf at 22, Bobby waited until his 50th birthday to turn professional to "see if I could play on this level." The challenge has not found him wanting. In his first full tournament season he qualified for both the US and Senior British Open Championships, and finished tied 4th at Hardelot for Qualifying School graduation to the 1998 PGA European Seniors Tour.
