Turned professional late in life, aged 26, without any amateur credentials. Played the South African mini-Tour early in professional career and won 1991 Lexington PGA title after play-off with Mark James and American Hugh Royer. Played on Canadian Tour for a time, winning Canadian Masters. Married to Kim, a Transvaal State golfer, and father-in-law Ronnie Leverton is coach.
