Won his second European Tour title in 2009 at the European Open at The London Golf Club, beating a field containing 25 of the world’s top 50. His first victory came five years previously, at the 2004 Open de España, and followed a year of injury problems after he fractured his right elbow and damaged ligaments and tendons in a skiing accident in 2002. Played 2003 on a medical exemption and eventually rediscovered his form, finishing a career-best 41st on the 2004 Order of Merit. However, his elbow problems resurfaced in 2012, limiting him to ten events, meaning he will play the 2013 season on a Medical Extension Category. Born on the island of New Caledonia, became world junior champion at 17 and took a scholarship at Stanford University in California, the same as Tom Watson and Tiger Woods. A major swing change at the end of 1998 left him struggling in 1999 but reaped the benefit in 2000 with eighth place in the Challenge Tour Rankings, winning the Finnish Masters en route.
