    Goes by the name of Ben. Both of his parents were Olympic medallists in table tennis, his mother Jiao Zhimin representing China and his father Ahn Jae-hyung representing South Korea in the Seoul Games in 1988.

    Holds the honour of being the youngest winner of the U.S. Amateur Championship, claiming the title in 2009 aged just 17 as he defeated Ben Martin 7&5 in the 36-hole final at Southern Hills.

    Became the first defending champion since Tiger Woods to advance to the semi-finals of the U.S. Amateur in 2010 but was defeated 1Up.

    Turned professional in 2011 and spent three seasons on the Challenge Tour before making his breakthrough to the European Tour in 2014, winning the Rolex Trophy en route to graduation.

    Became the first Asian winner of the prestigious BMW PGA Championship in 2015 after a stunning final round earned him the lowest winning score in the tournament’s history.

    Earned enough money as a non-member to gain a PGA TOUR card for 2016 and represented South Korea at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

    Was a Captain’s Pick for the International side at the 2019 Presidents Cup.

    Lost his PGA TOUR card and played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022, winning the LECOM Suncoast Classic as he finished 13th on the Points List to secure a return to the PGA TOUR.

    Returned to both the Olympics and Presidents Cup in 2024 and won his second DP World Tour title in the final regular event on the 2024 Race to Dubai, claiming an emotional victory on home soil at the Genesis Championship.
