Turned professional in 2008 and earned a place on the European Challenge Tour in 2010 after winning three times on the Nordic Golf League in 2009.

Won The Princess, held in Sweden, and finished third on the Challenge Tour Rankings that same year to graduate to the DP World Tour.

Had three runner-up finishes in his debut season, and then made his breakthrough at the 2012 Sicilian Open.

Played a part in the EurAsia Cup in 2014, the same year he won his second DP World Tour title at the ISPS HANDA Perth International. His third victory then came at the 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Competed for his country in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and, alongside Søren Kjeldsen, won the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf for Denmark later that year.

Won his first Rolex Series title at the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open, kick-starting a run of form which would see him make his Ryder Cup debut two years later and won his singles match in impressive fashion, beating Jordan Spieth 5&4.

Earned his place on the European team courtesy of a career-best 2018 campaign, which included a Rolex Series victory at the Italian Open and two top tens in the World Golf Championships. The victory in Italy was the fifth DP World Tour title of his career.

Secured his sixth DP World Tour title at the Betfred British Masters. The Dane trailed with two holes to play but finished eagle-birdie to win by one stroke at The Belfry.

His seventh DP World Tour title came at the 2023 Thailand Classic.

His eighth DP World Tour title came at the 2024 Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
