First started competing in Europe in 2016, on the Challenge Tour, after spending 2015, 2013 and 2011 playing on the Asian Tour.

Won for the first time on the European Challenge Tour at the 2018 Hainan Open, which guaranteed his European Tour card for the 2019 season.

Had runner-up finishes in 2019 and 2020 before earning his maiden DP World Tour victory in 2022 at the Porsche European Open. Samooja started the final round seven strokes off the lead but carded a course-record 64 on the Porsche Nord Course to win by two strokes.

First picked up a club at the age of eight after being introduced to the game by his father.
