Enjoyed a stunning amateur career, winning the English Amateur Championship in 2007, playing in the 2007 Walker Cup and rising to become World Amateur Number One.

Turned professional in May 2008 and earned his 2009 playing rights after cruising through all three stages of DP World Tour Qualifying School.

His first victory on the DP World Tour came in 2012 at the BMW International Open, defeating Marcus Fraser in a play-off.

Won twice in the 2015 season, first at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and again at the Omega European Masters as he went on to finish runner-up on the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Started the 2016 with victory at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and represented Europe at the EurAsia Cup before going on to claim his maiden Major Championship at the Masters Tournament, a week after the birth of his first child Zachariah. He became the first British player to win the Green Jacket since Nick Faldo 20 years prior.

Represented Europe at the 2016 Ryder Cup after finishing second on the European Points List and finished runner-up on the Race to Dubai for a second consecutive season.

Won his first Rolex Series title at the 2018 DP World Tour Championship and followed that with victory at the BMW PGA Championship the following year.

Carded a closing 68 at St Andrews on his 34th birthday to win his eighth European Tour title at the 2021 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Hosted the Betfred British Masters at The Belfry earlier that same season.
