Became only the second Dutchman after Rolf Muntz to win the Amateur Championship when, at Turnberry in 2008, he defeated England’s Tommy Fleetwood.

It was the highlight of an impressive amateur career which included no fewer than five wins at the National Match Play Championship – the first as a 15 year old – and the Spanish Amateur Championship in Seville in 2009.

Father is former Challenge Tour professional Jonas Saxton, so golf was in the blood. Enjoys playing and watching tennis, and cites Roger Federer as his sporting hero.
