Got his fifth Challenge Tour season off to a fine start with a tied third finish in only his second event, the AGF-Allianz Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne in France. Subsequently struggled for consistency, but came good when he needed it most with a runner-up finish at the Kazakhstan Open, the most lucrative regular event of the Challenge Tour season. His cheque for €47,300 propelled Davis into the top 20 in the Rankings, which is where he stayed, eventually beating 21st placed Marco Ruiz of Paraguay by just €259 in prize money. That helped banish the painful memories of his experiences at the Qualifying School – Final Stage in 2007 when, needing a par on the final hole to earn his European Tour playing privileges, he closed with a triple bogey seven to consign himself to another season on the Challenge Tour.
