Played cricket for Middlesex Colts as a youngster, but switched to golf and became an assistant at Arkley in his home county of Hertfordshire after turning professional in 1981.

Made 19 appearances at European Tour Qualifying School and won his first European Tour title on his 201st outing, winning the 2003 Open de France at Le Golf National.

Has also won titles on the European Challenge Tour and Staysure Tour, becoming the fourth player to do so. Doubled his number of Staysure Tour victories to four in 2017 with wins at the Swiss Seniors Open and Travis Perkins Masters.

Won his fifth Staysure Tour title at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship in 2018, firing a course record-equalling round of 63 in the final round.
