The Texan closed with a four under par 67 at Pestana Golf Resort’s Pinta Course to clinch his card on his fifth visit to the European Seniors Tour Qualifying School. Made three appearances on The European Tour in 1978 and 1980 but as a young man spent most of his time competing in Asia, where he won three times. Played on the US Champions Tour in 1998 before coming to Europe in 2000 when a share of third place at the Belfry PGA Seniors Championship helped him to finish 28th on the Order of Merit. At the end of 2000 he returned home and regained his US Tour card but then lost it after finishing 78th on the money list. Beat Isao Aoki into second place at the Taiwan Seniors Open before returning to Europe. Has won a number of times in Mexico and the Far East, and is among the small band of golfers to have recorded a hole-in-one on a par four, his ace coming at the 322 yard 17th at Brackenridge Golf Club in his home town of San Antonio.
