Introduced to golf by his father and grandfather, he turned pro in 1998.

Has won a dozen events in his homeland of South Africa and three on the European Tour – including victory in his national Open in 2011 and an Italian double, the latest of which coming in the Open d’Italia in 2014 en route to a career-best finish of 46th in The Race to Dubai.

One of the first South Africans to work with renowned sports psychologist Jos Vanstiphout, who died in December 2013.
