Went back to School in November 1998 after 16 unbroken years on Tour. Emerged with card in hand to continue his career. Son of a scrap metal dealer, hit the headlines at Royal Birkdale in 1991. In contention for the Open, he suffered a broken leg - a stress fracture - after driving at the ninth hole of the third round. After rooming with Derrick Cooper on Tour for 16 years, is now coached by his great friend. Since last July has been going to a 'performance enhancing' company called Advance, based in Preston.
