Came close to returning to the winners’ enclosure in 2014, losing in a play-off to David Horsey in the M2M Russian Open. His best season to date came in 2010, the year was his most successful in financial terms, with earnings of €782,719 in finishing 41st in The Race to Dubai. A consistent performer, he captured his maiden European Tour title in 2008 with a commanding nine-stroke victory at the Volvo China Open. Nearly added a second title at the 2012 Trophée Hassan II, but, having shared the third round lead, shot 70 on the final day and had to settle for second place. Took up the game aged 14 when he was first taken under the wing of Joey Purcell, professional at Portmarnock GC, and then Brendan McGovern, assistant at Headfort GC in Kells. Became professional at Wexford GC before returning to his roots in Kells, Co.Meath, and chasing his European Tour dream. Topped the Irish Order of Merit three times prior to the second of his successful Qualifying School visits in 2003, and subsequently made steady progress in the next four seasons on The European Tour before taking his game to the next level with his victory in 2008.
