The prize fund for the 2017 Travis Perkins Masters, the longest-running European Senior Tour event held on English soil, has been increased to £360,000 for this year’s edition of the tournament.
Held annually on the Duke’s Course at Woburn Golf Club, the Travis Perkins Masters is one of the most popular events on the Senior Tour’s International Schedule with crowds of tens of thousands flocking to see the finest golfers on the over-50s circuit.
Since the inaugural tournament in 2001, 12 different players have lifted the coveted trophy with former Ryder Cup Captain Colin Montgomerie winning a hat-trick of tournaments from 2013 to 2015.
Carl Mason, the record Senior Tour winner with 25 titles, and former Ryder Cup player and vice-captain Des Smyth have also each triumphed on two occasions at the Milton Keynes venue.
John Carter, Chief Executive of Travis Perkins plc, said: "This is our 10th consecutive year as title sponsor of the Travis Perkins Masters at Woburn Golf Club. We are extremely proud of our long-running association with the Tour, which dates back to 2002 enabling us to provide many of our customers, manufacturers, colleagues and the public to watch these great legends in action and be part of what has grown into a wonderful annual event at Woburn Golf Club. We very much look forward to another successful Travis Perkins Masters again this year.”
Switzerland’s André Bossert won his maiden European Senior Tour title at last year’s tournament, triumphing by four shots from Philip Golding and former World Number One Ian Woosnam.
David MacLaren, Head of the European Senior Tour, said: “Watching our members on the magnificent Duke’s Course at Woburn is always a pleasure, and we are delighted to be returning to Woburn later this year.
“This increase is prize fund is testament to the relationship we have with title sponsors Travis Perkins, who have been a valued partner of the European Senior Tour for more than a decade, and my thanks go to their Chief Executive John Carter and his staff for their continued support.
“Our thanks must also go to our host, His Grace, the Duke of Bedford, and we are certain that the 2017 edition of this tournament will once again deliver a week of memorable golf.”
The Duke of Bedford, President of Woburn Golf Club, said: “Woburn is delighted to be hosting the Travis Perkins Masters and we are grateful to Travis Perkins for their continued sponsorship of the event for what will be the tenth consecutive year at Woburn.”
