Some of the stars of the 2013 European Senior Tour campaign helped the season ending MCB Tour Championship get off to a stylish start at Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius.
Paul Wesselingh and Steen Tinning, the two leading players on the Senior Tour Order of Merit, were joined by debutant Colin Montgomerie, defending champion David Frost and Mauritius ambassador Marc Farry.
The quintet took part in the tournament’s traditional ‘al fresco’ press conference to launch the third edition of the season finale in Mauritius, before competing in a fun island challenge, hitting from the pool side at Constance Belle Mare Plage to a rock island 212yards out in the Indian Ocean.
Farry was the first player to successfully find the rocks, followed by Tinning and Frost in front of a crowd of pro-am guests, sponsors and media.
When the tournament starts on Friday, Wesselingh and Tinning will go head-to-head for the John Jacobs Trophy, with Englishman Wesselingh currently €47,936 clear of his Danish rival.
