Dennis remaining level-headed ahead of KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship debut

Clark Dennis, the defending Staysure Tour Order of Merit winner, is refusing to put himself under any additional pressure ahead of his debut at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, the second Senior Major Championship of the 2018 season.

The 52 year old, who stormed on to the Staysure Tour in 2017 after securing his card at Qualifying School, is one of 37 Staysure Tour members in the field this week as Harbor Shores Golf Club hosts the Championship for the third time since 2014.

"It's a Senior Major, so it's a little higher on the importance level, but to me it's another tournament," said Dennis. "I feel as though if I go out there and execute then I'll play well; but if I don't, then I won't.

"If I put that kind of pressure on myself to try and prove something, it could possibly have the opposite effect."

The American finished second to Thaworn Wiratchant at the first event of the season - the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq - and is hoping to continue his fast start to the year.

"This golf course sets up well for me," he said. "I didn't know what to expect before I got here, but I really like it. The greens are difficult and challenging, but I kind of enjoy the challenge. Tee to green it's fantastic.

"After the rain we have had, the course will play a little differently. It's more of a second-shot course and you'll have to be on with your irons. You can put it in places on these greens where you can't even two-putt."

After this week's event is the first of six tournaments in the space of nine weeks as the Staysure Tour heads into the final Senior Major of the season, The Senior Open Presented by Rolex at St Andrews at the end of July.

"Sharjah was a fantastic tournament, but it was so long ago," Dennis added. "This is where we start moving again and get rolling - I'm really looking forward to the year ahead."
