Things you might have missed - Euram Bank Open

Calum Hill became a two-time winner on the European Challenge Tour as he clinched victory at the Euram Bank Open in Austria, but did you keep abreast of everything that happened?

Golf & ADHD

We have covered stories on skin cancer, the U.S. Open and deaf golfers as part of the Challenge Tour’s Story of the Day series this season, and the latest theme is golf and ADHD. Joshua Grenville-Wood received an invite to the Euram Bank Open and he is a professional golfer who was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. Here’s his story.

Austrian golf, inspired by Bernd Wiesberger

Our second Story of the Day centred on Bernd Wiesberger and his influence on Austrian golf. The former Challenge Tour player won the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, the previous week so we spoke to his brother Niki, the promoter of the Euram Bank Open, and a handful of players teeing it up at Golf Club Adamstal about Bernd’s influence.

Unbelievable Jeff!

If there is one man you can count on for putting a smile on your face, it’s Marcus Armitage. ‘The Bullet’ had an unfortunate encounter with a rake which resulted in a double bogey on the par five seventh hole, and we caught his reaction on camera shortly after.

Tie, tie, tie… broken!

Spain’s Borja Virto set the Golf Club Adamstal course record at 62 in the inaugural edition of the event in 2018 and it was beaten by one shot this year… after three near misses. Incredibly, the record was tied on each of the first three days as Marcel Schneider set the pace after the opening round, Antoine Schwartz leapt up the leaderboard on day two, before Pontus Widegren secured his spot in the final group with a third round 62 on Saturday. However, with all eyes on the top of the leaderboard on Sunday, France’s Julien Quesne went about his business quietly by starting the day in 63rd place and shooting a sensational bogey-free, nine under par round of 61 to finish the tournament in a tie for 19th.

Sautrog Splash

The Challenge Tour immerses itself in local culture when it visits various countries around the world, and Austria was no different. We got our hands on a traditional Sautrog – a type of trough – and challenged Felipe Aguilar, Antti Ahokas and Jordan Wrisdale to landing a shot in it from over 50 yards. See how they fared here…
