Play Abandoned for the day at the BMW Russian Open

Play at the third round of the BMW Russian Open has been abandoned for the day due to incessant rain.

After non-stop morning downpours, European Tour officials were left with no choice but to suspend play for the third round at 1:20pm local time.

A final decision to abandon play for the day was taken at 5:00pm local time when the course at Le Meridien Country Club was deemed unplayable.

Round three will resume at 7:30am on Sunday morning, with round four commencing at 8:00am with the same draw order and the same groups as round three.

Twenty-two players managed to complete their third rounds before Saturday's suspension, while overnight leaders Kariem Baraka of Germany and Sweden's Henrik Nystrom have played just one hole of their third rounds, and hold a one shot lead over Austrian Markus Brier, England's Gary Emerson and Scotsman Euan Little.
