ECCO Tour Championship - Tournament Summary

After four years on “home” soil in Denmark, the ECCO Tour Championship will cross the border to Germany for the first time this year, when the event is held at Green Eagle Golf Club, near Hamburg. The €180,000 tournament, won last year by Portugal’s José-Filipe Lima, will be played at Green Eagle’s North Course, which at 7,208 metres is the longest on the 2010 Challenge Tour Schedule. The demanding par 73 course, situated 35km south east of Hamburg, also hosts the Green Eagle Classic co-sanctioned by the Danish domestic ECCO Tour and the Renault EPD Tour, one of the Challenge Tour’s approved Satellite Tours. First held in 2006, the ECCO Tour Championship has been won by the English duo of James Heath and Iain Pyman, when it was played at Odense GK. Finland’s Antti Ahokas then took the title in 2007, when it moved to Kokkedal GK in Copenhagen, before Lima’s triumph at Holstebro GK last year.
