Robert Dinwiddie cruised into a five shot lead in the early stages of the second day at the English Challenge as he reached the turn in five under par to move to 12 under for the tournament at Stoke by Nayland, Hotel, Golf and Spa.
The three time Challenge Tour winner was tied for the overnight lead alongside Welshman Stuart Manley but took advantage of the benign early morning conditions after teeing off at the 10th hole.
The 29 year old birdied the par four 12th hole before three consecutive birdies from the 14th were followed by another gained shot at the par three 18th to reach the turn in 31.
That left Dinwiddie five shots clear of the two-man chasing pack of Francis McGuirk and James Busby, both of England, who were on seven under par. McGuirk started the day just one shot off the lead and after one bogey on the front nine left him one over par, he was having a more positive back nine and was one under par through 15.
Busby, meanwhile, was making a big charge towards the top of the leaderboard with five birdies, including three in the opening three holes, helping to move him to four under par through 12 and in tied second place.
Nick Dougherty was also launching a strong home challenge as he was three under par through 12 after a four under par front nine, and five under par for the tournament, six shots behind Dinwiddie.
