Axgren was somewhat surprised to be leading by three going into the final round but had no complaints as he made himself the odds on favourite to secure the
“I did not expect to have a three shot lead going into the final round so I am happy with that. A lot can happen in 18 holes, but it’s good to be three ahead going into the last day.
“It was up and down today – a lot like yesterday’s round. I played some great stuff to make seven birdies today, but then I dropped four shots so I have been making mistakes as well.”
Despite a few erroneous moments, Axgren is undoubtedly one of the Challenge Tour’s form players at the moment. The Swede has already won on the 2006 Schedule, taking the Kai Fieberg Costa Rica Open 2006 title after a sudden-death play-off with his countryman Alexander Noren in February, and he has maintained his level of performance at Karen.
Currently second on the Rankings behind Mexico’s Antonio Maldonado, Axgren is aware that he can assume the Challenge Tour Number One spot if he can close out his second victory if the year on Sunday afternoon. He is confident that he can do just that, which would put him in an enviable position to win back his place on The European Tour.
