Danial Gale got the fans vote to win the head-to-head competition for the best shot of the 2020 season so far!
Over the past few weeks, fans have been voting in a series of head-to-head knockouts for the best shots of the 2020 season so far with Dubai Duty Free. The selection of shots was narrowed down to 32 with fans on Twitter casting their votes.
How it worked
The European Tour posted a video which showed two shots from different players. Decided by Twitter Poll, there was a vote on which shot should make it through to the next round of matches.
There were 16 shots on each side of the draw meaning the round of 32 was followed by the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
The results were posted here on a daily basis.
The final fell as a final battle between Daniel Gale and Marcus Armitage, who both took to social media to rally support, with Gale edging the poll with 61% of the votes.
"I'd like to thank each and every one of you who got behind my shot and voted for me throughout the three or four weeks," said Gale. "There were a couple of close battles and it was an awesome experience for me to get my name out there and come up against the likes of Rory, Tyrrell Hatton, Beef and Marcus Armitage. Just to come up against those guys was quite the honour.
"The shot was an amazing three wood, one of the best shots I have hit t this day - 276 yards uphill, wind into and out the left, with a lot of trouble around the green and a tight opening. I hit a nicely flighted draw, which never left the pin and rolled up there to a couple of inches for a tap in eagle at Royal Pines in the Australian PGA Championship. It was quite the shot."
I'd like to thank each and every one of you who got behind my shot and voted for me throughout the three or four weeks
