The goal of a top ten finish on the Race to Dubai to earn a share of the $5million bonus pool intensified today with Sergio Garcia, Francesco Molinari and Lee Westwood all mounting a challenge.
All three players are projected to advance into the top ten based on their current positions in the DP World Tour Championship, which means if they maintain their form over the weekend they could be in line for a bonus ranging from $250,000 for finishing the season in tenth up to £1.25 million for the winner of the Race to Dubai.
In the battle to finish top of the Race to Dubai Henrik Stenson is still holding off the challenges of Rory McIlroy, Alex Noren and Danny Willett in his bid to win the $1.25 million Number One bonus.
Second on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex will secure $750,000 bonus with third earning $600,000.
There is also everything to play for a little further down the list, with Garcia projected to climb 14 places, Molinari 17 places and Westwood four, advances which would put them in the frame for a season top ten.
With the DP World Tour Championship title, European Tour Number One spot and Race to Dubai Bonus Pool all to be decided this weekend, there’s plenty at stake for the season finale.
