Martin Kaymer and Bernd Wiesberger: BMW Indoor Invitational powered by TrackMan

The BMW Indoor Invitational powered by TrackMan returns this Saturday when a field of 31 European Tour players take on Golfclub München Eichenried in the third event in the series of virtual golf tournaments.

Dutchman Joost Luiten and Scot Connor Syme triumphed in the first two events over the Old Course at St Andrews and Royal Portrush respectively, using the latest simulator technology.

Both return this week as the action moves to Munich, joining a field that includes an interactive feature group of home favourites Max Kieffer and two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer.

Former World Number One Lee Westwood and seven-time European Tour winner Bernd Wiesberger return to action, while Belgian Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts makes his debut in the BMW Indoor Invitational powered by TrackMan.

This week’s action takes place over Golfclub München Eichenried, the venue which has hosted 24 editions of the BMW International Open, with former winners David Horsey, Kaymer and Westwood all in the field this week.

Tournament footage will once again be shown on the European Tour’s social media channels and https://bmw.trackmaninvitational.com, with fans able to follow using #BMWTrackManInvitational. The winner will receive $10,000 to benefit a Coronavirus charity or relief fund of his choice.

Kaymer said: “Golfclub München Eichenried has been a special place for me since 2003, the first time I made the cut as an amateur. I remember it well as I played with my idol Ernie Els the first two rounds, and then making the cut was huge.

“In 2008 I was leading the tournament after the first three rounds and then had a bit of a rollercoaster 10 or 11 holes. I needed to fight back to get into the play-off and then eventually win in my home country, which was quite cool.

“Going back there every year is always a nice experience. Being at home and having the success that I have had on the golf course, we’ll see if I can have similar success on the TrackMan.

Kieffer said: “I’m looking forward to playing as Munich is usually one of my favourite weeks on tour and I’m disappointed that it’s not going to happen this year. It will be nice to see how different or similar it will look on the TrackMan.

“It’s nice to have some competition again, to compete against the other guys and see where your game is. My last tournament was in February so it’s been more than two and a half months, the longest I’ve ever gone without playing a tournament.”
