Now entering its fourth year, the Rolex Series has provided some of the European Tour’s most exciting recent rounds.
From Alex Noren’s winning final round at the BMW PGA Championship to Brandon Stone’s victory at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open in 2018, five players have reached the impressive total of 10 under par.
Brandon Stone: 60 (-10)
South Africa's Brandon Stone equalled the lowest round in European Tour history (at the time) to win the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open in 2018.
Stone fired a remarkable round of 60 to break the course record at Gullane Golf Club on the final day as he powered to victory in the Rolex Series event by four strokes.
Earning his way in to the history books, Stone became just the fourth player to record a final round 60 on their way to lifting the trophy, and his impressive ten under par effort was almost one better – having missed from seven feet on the last for a 59.
Stone, who led the field in strokes gained putting, carded eight birdies and an eagle in his first 16 holes at Gullane, before parring his final two holes to win.
“A day when you shoot 60 and win the Scottish Open is something I'm going to hold dear to my heart for a very long time," Stone said at the time.
Robert Rock: 60 (-10)
Round 3. 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open
The third round of the 2019 Irish Open at Lahinch Golf Club was one to remember for Robert Rock as he carded a record breaking 60 during the third round of the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
The Englishman's ten under par effort is the lowest round in the history of the event, and bettered Rock’s best ever European Tour round by three shots. It also tops the list of the most strokes gained in a Rolex Series round, at a staggering 9.38.
Rock birdied his final six holes and had a 35 foot putt for eagle on the last but missed by inches on the low side to be denied just the second 59 in European Tour history.
"That's the first chance I've had to do it," he had said of his potential 59. "It's disappointing not to but 60 is a great score. It's my best score.”
It gave him a one-shot lead into the final round of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, where he ultimately finished three behind Rahm.
Alex Noren: 62 (-10)
Round 4. 2017 BMW PGA Championship
Alex Noren made history as the first ever winner of a Rolex Series event during the 2017 BMW PGA Championship, and captured victory in style with a ten under par 62 during the final round at Wentworth.
The Swede entered Sunday seven shots off the lead but eight birdies in his first 16 holes had him in a tie for top spot before he produced one of the great moments on Wentworth Club's famous 18th.
He put his second shot to six feet to send the bumper crowd into raptures and the resulting eagle putt handed him a two-shot lead and piled the pressure on the chasing pack.
But glory belonged to the Swede on a day where the Noren gained 8.85 shots over the field, and saw him match his lowest ever round on Tour.
“It's a great feeling now but it feels unreal,” he said at the time.
"It's a tough course mentally coming down the stretch. It's not super narrow but it's just if you hit it a little bit wayward it can cost you. I putted probably the best I've ever putted."
Shane Lowry: 62 (-10)
Round 1. 2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA
Shane produced a flawless ten under par 62 on the first day of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA to equal the course record set by Henrik Stenson 13 years earlier.
Playing in his first even of the year and getting under way on the back-nine, Lowry produced an impressive start with five birdies in seven holes from the 12th, reaching the turn in 31.
He continued to shine on his back nine, reeling off three straight birdies at the first, second and third before rolling in from 20 feet at the short seventh to get to nine under, and converting a final birdie from five feet at eight.
Afterwards, he said: "I'm obviously over the moon. It equals the best score I've ever shot.”
Lowry’s career-best tying round of 62 saw him gain 9.05 strokes over the rest of the field to open the week with a three shot lead, and he followed it up with rounds of 70, 67 and 71 to win by one.
Bernd Wiesberger: 61 (-10)
Round 2. 2019 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open
Bernd Wiesberger earned the sixth European Tour title of his career during the 2019 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, setting a tournament low 72 hole record of 22 under par.
He ultimately triumphed in a play-off, but it was the second day, rather than the last, that proved to be the difference last year.
Fresh from a runner-up finish in Ireland and having only recently returned from wrist surgery, Wiesberger continued his brilliant Rolex Series form in 2019 at Renaissance as he followed up a first round 67 with a ten under par 61 during the second round.
Starting on the back nine, the Austrian made birdies on the tenth, 12th, 14th and 16th with a bogey on the 13th, and then added a gain on the 18th to turn in 32. A flawless back-nine came after, which saw Wiesberger birdie the first hole before closing out his record breaking round with five consecutive birdies.
"I hadn't shot ten under in a professional event yet, so that was a nice bonus," Wiesberger had said.
Wiesberger went on to carry a two shot lead in to the final day, but battled his game in parts before ultimately triumphing in a play-off against Benjamin Hebert. This week, Wiesberger will hope to become the first player in history to win back-to-back at the ASISO Scottish Open.
