Oliver Wilson produced a brilliant finish to end his near eight-year winless run and claim an emotional victory, Ewen Ferguson fell just short of a third Tour title this season, while Kristian Krogh Johannessen surged up the leaderboard to clinch a prized spot at Wentworth on the final day of the 2022 Made in HimmerLand.

Wilson’s fine finish seals emotional win

Wilson holed two enormous birdie putts in quick succession on the back nine to to claim his second DP World Tour title almost eight years after winning his first at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Ferguson appeared set to become the first player to win for a third time this season when he set the clubhouse target at 20 under par. However, Wilson, playing in the final group, holed two putts of more than 60 feet at the 13th and 17th while another birdie at the 14th helped him overhaul the Scotsman before nervously closing out victory with a two-putt par at the last hole. “I wasn’t going to cry,” said Wilson in his winner’s interview beside the 18th green. "Everything I’ve done to this point to rebuild my game, I knew I could do it. I was so calm there, I almost enjoyed the last hole. It’s pretty special.”

Wilson’s driver off the deck

Teeing off on the 72nd hole with victory on the line is a nervous experience for most within the professional game. But not for Wilson as he drilled his drive 310 yards down the middle of the 18th fairway with aplomb, without the use of a tee. Nerveless stuff on what was the hardest hole on the course all week.

Ferguson content with performance

Already a two-time winner this season, Ferguson started the final day in ominous fashion as he made birdies at the third and fifth before an eagle at the eighth saw him grab a share of the lead on 19 under. The 26-year-old then made a birdie at the 14th to become the first player to reach 20 under par and with it a two-shot lead at the time. A birdie putt at the 17th to regain his two-shot advantage narrowly slipped by before Wilson’s late flourish saw him settle for second spot. "I feel quite good,” said Ferguson, who climbs to 11th in the DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex. "Obviously, a little bit sad that I didn't win but I definitely didn't lose it. He battled hard and obviously did very well to get over the line. This week just wasn't meant to be my week, even though it was another good week. I’m definitely happy with how I played.”

Johannessen punches Wentworth ticket

Kristian Krogh Johannessen made it a week to remember as he produced a flawless six-under 65 on the final day to finish in third place – his best result on the DP World Tour. That saw the Norwegian take up the spot in this week’s BMW PGA Championship on offer to the leading player in the top 10 not already exempt. Sitting seventh on the Challenge Tour's Road to Mallorca, Johannessen now has more reason to be delighted with his season. “That would just be the best thing,” said Johannessen ahead of his spot being confirmed in the field at Wentworth. “It is a flagship event on the DP World Tour and I would really like to play."

All smiles for Huizing on final day

Daan Huizing went into the final round ten shots off the lead but recorded a nine-under 62 – matching the course record set earlier in the week – to climb up the leaderboard, with seven birdies and an eagle on Sunday. The top-ten finish also lifts him to 94th in the DP World Tour Rankings and bolsters his chances of retaining his Tour card.
