Jordan Smith put his name in the Wentworth Golf Club history books with a hole-in-one at the second on day three of the 2020 BMW PGA Championship.
There were no fans to witness the Englishman's magic moment and he was not entirely sure of what he had seen himself when his nine iron from 139 yards took one hop and found the bottom of the cup.
"Has that gone in?" he had to ask before he was informed "I think it has", with the belated celebrations including an air handshake on the tee.
Smith's ace was the 23rd hole-in-one at Wentworth Golf Club in the flagship event since 1972 and the second of the week after David Howell needed just a single blow on the 14th on day two.
Howell's was just the second hole-in-one of the Rolex Series era at Wentworth after Paul Waring made an ace on the fifth in 2018, meaning Smith is the first man in Rolex Series history to make a hole-in-one at the second.
Rikard Karlberg was the last player to do it in 2016, the season before fellow Swede Alex Noren became the inaugural Rolex Series champion at European Tour HQ.
Since that event in May 2017, Smith has been the only player to feature in every single Rolex Series event.
"That's my first as a pro," he said of his ace. "And I think I've only had one other apart from that so it's nice to get it here.
"It's a shame there weren't some crowds there just going nuts but it's great to have that hole-in-one and to have it on this course."
