Day three digest: 2020 BMW PGA Championship

Everything you need to know from round three of the third Rolex Series event of the 2020 Race to Dubai.

Matthew Fitzpatrick header

Tyrrell took control, Smith hit a perfect shot, Lowry had a nutty moment and Rosey stood firm in the third round of the 2020 BMW PGA Championship.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at Wentworth Golf Club.

Hatton surges clear

Tyrrell Hatton has spoken this week of the importance of this event that he attended as a five-year-old fan with his father. He is now within touching distance of achieving a lifelong dream and winning it after a 69 put him into a three shot lead at 14 under. The home favourite knows how to get over the line with two Rolex Series wins and two Alfred Dunhill Links Championships on his CV, but he is taking nothing for granted heading into Sunday. "You can't win it on Saturday and there are still 18 holes to go," he said. "I have to try and not get too far ahead of myself. I can take confidence from the fact that I've won on Tour before and I've just got to go out there and try and control myself, hopefully play well like I have been the past three days and just see what happens."

Smith plays chase the ace

Jordan Smith had never had a hole-in-one as a professional before but he picked quite the time to register one. Rolex Series, flagship event, home soil - and he sent a nine iron from 139 yards off the second tee and watched it bounce once and find the bottom of the cup. It was the second ace of the week and the first in Rolex Series history on the second at Wentworth. "We couldn't really tell if it had gone in," he said. "It's great just to have the hole-in-one and to have it on this course."

Big finish from the skipper

Padraig Harrington may have bigger things on his mind over the next 12 months than his own golf but the Ryder Cup Captain has still got plenty of game. Just have a look at this...

Full commitment from Rosey

The hazard on the 15th at Wentworth has claimed a few victims over the years but we doubt any of them have ever put as much effort into getting out of it as Justin Rose. They say a picture speaks a thousand words - so here are the pictures that tell the story of a former World Number One hitting a driver from across a small trench. Yep, it's that good.

Shane goes nuts

There are bad lies and there are bad lies. On Saturday, Shane Lowry found his ball resting on two acorns. What did the Irishman do? The kind of thing that made him an Open Champion, that's what.

Fleetwood GMac

Tommy Fleetwood and Graeme McDowell are both playing in the BMW PGA Championship this week, and just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take on the latest #DreamsChallenge.

Watch below as the two players drive around the grounds of Wentworth Golf Club - as the European Tour's very own Fleetwood (G)Mac.
