Fantasy Insight: Tyrrell Hatton, who won this event at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort in 2021, is the most popular pick in the early stages of players picking their teams, featuring in 75% of squads.
Next comes Major champions Adam Scott and Justin Rose (both 53%).
We then have Rolex Series winners Robert MacIntyre (50%) and Shane Lowry (46%), highlighting a strong British emphasis among the favourites.
Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.
Favourite - Rory McIlroy
Who else could it really be? The World Number Three is the top-ranked player in the field and will come into the week refreshed after a month-long break since the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Prior to that, he finished second over back-to-back weeks at the BMW PGA Championship and Amgen Irish Open. In total, the Northern Irishman has six top tens in addition to his victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic earlier in the year. Factor in too that he finished tied 12th at Yas Links in 2022, and everything points to him enjoying a strong result and potentially sealing the Race to Dubai crown for a sixth time.
Form Horse - Jordan Smith
Long regarded as one of the most consistent performers on Tour, the Englishman enjoyed a fruitful campaign on the Back 9 to climb up the Race to Dubai Rankings. As a result, he enters the DP World Tour Play-Offs in possession of a PGA TOUR card for 2025. But with plenty of competition for those, the two-time DP World Tour winner will be intent on replicating the levels in recent months that saw him earn two top tens and four top 20s in his last seven starts. While he may have missed the cut last year at Yas Links, he did finish alongside McIlroy just outside the top ten two years ago.
Wild Card - Shubhankar Sharma
While the Indian may be towards the lower end of the Race to Dubai standings of those in the field, he has shown plenty of promise at times during the campaign. During a Green Room interview at the Genesis Championship last month, he admitted he has just been unable to produce a consistent performance across four days but could this be the week that changes? He will have good memories of his past experiences at Yas Links, having finished tied second on debut in 2022 and then tied seventh last year. Another performance like that, and he will likely play his way into the field for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Looking Back - Genesis Championship
Prior to the one-week break after the climax of the regular season, Byeong Hun An will have proven a popular winner for many users of the game, featuring in 44% of teams and being selected as captain by 3398 players.
Our Favourite - and yours for that matter too - Tom Kim finished runner-up, losing out in an all-Korean play-off, with both our Form Horse Sanghyun Park and Wild Card Joost Luiten missing the cut.
