The European Swing marks the fourth of five Global Swings on the 2024 Race to Dubai as the DP World Tour arrives in Europe for the first time this season. Here is everything you need to know.
Running from the Soudal Open to the BMW International Open, the Swing features six counting events in five countries with 3,000 Race to Dubai Ranking points on offer at each and a host of strong incentives for the ultimate Swing Champion.
Starting off in Belgium, Nacho Elvira claimed his second DP World Tour title at the Soudal Open at Rinkven International Golf Club, before Laurie Canter sealed his long-awaited maiden victory on the DP World Tour at the European Open, the first of two events in Germany during this Swing.
The Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed saw Linn Grant make further history on the DP World Tour at Vasatorps Golfkklub as the Swede regained the title she won in 2022, before Bryson DeChambeau overcame the challenge of Rory McIlroy on a dramatic afternoon at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club to win the U.S. Open (which is non-counting for Swing Rankings) for a second time.
Following the penultimate men’s Major Championship of the season, Guido Migliozzi became the second Italian to win on the 2024 Race to Dubai after Matteo Manassero with a play-off victory at the KLM Open.
Marcel Siem then prevailed in a play-off against Tom McKibbin to win his sixth DP World Tour title as we visited the Adriatic Golf Club for the first time for the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna.
Guido Migliozzi was later crowned as the Swing Champion when the Tour returned to Germany and Golfclub München Eichenried for the BMW International Open as Ewen Ferguson claimed the silverware.
The Format
The 2024 season on the DP World Tour features a minimum of 44 tournaments in 24 countries and across five continents, underlining its status as golf’s global Tour.
The 2024 Race to Dubai includes three new and distinct phases – five innovative ‘Global Swings’ from November 2023 to August 2024; an historic ‘Back 9’ from September 2024 to October 2024; and two ‘DP World Tour Play-Offs’ in November 2024.
Each Swing will have its own identity and its own Champion who will each earn $200,000.
Swing Champions will also qualify for each of the ‘Back 9’ events, while they will also earn an exemption into the next Rolex Series event. In the case of the European Swing, this means a final chance to gain exemption into the Genesis Scottish Open.
While points accrued in the Major Championships (in the case of the European Swing this means the U.S. Open) will count on the Race to Dubai Rankings, they will not count in the Swing Rankings.

Who won the first three swings of the 2024 DP World Tour season?
Min Woo Lee carried over an encouraging end-of-season form from 2023 into the 2024 DP World Tour season as he won the Opening Swing after starring on home soil. Victory at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship - the first event of the season - propelled Lee up the rankings, and a third-place finish two weeks later at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open all but secured his place as the first Swing Champion.
Like Lee, Rory McIlroy's performance in the first two events of 2024 set the tone and made him the man to catch at the top of the International Swing Rankings. A runner-up finish to Tommy Fleetwood at the Dubai Invitational followed a historic fourth Rolex win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic for the Northern Irishman, and the importance of that Rolex Series victory proved enough for him to lead the way and ultimately take home the spoils.
The Asian Swing saw three first-time winners on the DP World Tour emerge in European Challenge Tour graduate Jesper Svensson, former World Number One amateur Keita Nakajima and his fellow Japanese Yuto Katsuragawa - but it was Sebastian Söderberg who topped the Asian Swing Rankings after a consistent campaign. The Swede, who opened the Asian Swing with a tie for 21st at the Porsche Singapore Open, recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Hero Indian Open and ISPS HANDA Championship before ending the Swing with a third place at the Volvo China Open to claim his place as Swing Champion.
