The European Tour’s two youngest winners moved to the top of the leaderboard on day two of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.
Italy’s Matteo Manassero, whose two wins as a 17 year old saw him break Danny Lee’s record as the youngest winner on tour, was level with the New Zealander on four under par.
With overnight leaders Scott Hend and Felipe Aguilar – who both carded three under par 69s in tough conditions on Thursday - among the later starts, New Zealand’s Lee moved to four under with three birdies in his first four holes.
Manassero joined him at the top of the leaderboard with three gains in an outward 33, while two-time Open Champion Padraig Harrington birdied the 13th – his fourth – to join Aguilar and Hend on three under par.
The 25 year old Lee, who won the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic as an 18 year old amateur, went ahead with a gain at the long second, only for 23 year old Manassero to join him on five under with a birdie of his own on the par five 12th.
South African Branden Grace moved to three under with a gain from eight feet at the 17th, but Harrington swiftly reclaimed third place with a birdie at 16.
